Against all Odds is a book written by Mr. A.G. Krishamurthy which can inspire anyone by giving references of true life story of Late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani. He lived  his life to the fullest, challenging and overcoming all the obstacles that come in his way. Most of them being created by his peers and a few natural as well. But still there are a few stories which I will always remember.

The first one is of his courage to dive in a sea infested by sharks that too in the middle of the night. And the most astonishing fact in it is that he did not dive to save someone, he dived just to get a bowl of ice-cream which his friend has offered to any person who dives and go till shore and come back to the ship. He did it just for the fun of it.

The next one was when a group of cartels tried bringing his share value down. They started selling Reliance shares at low prices and thus reducing its market value. This hit the cost of shares to an extent. But when he observed this he also knew about the rules that the company cannot buy their own shares and also the stock market allows a person to sell the shares which he does not own and produce the delivery of it till the end of the day. Keeping all rules in mind he bought the shares through a broker and a NRI support. But the cartels did not stop and sold 1.1 million shares in one day. Thus he did not let his share price go down further. And the flow of shares which the cartels were expecting did not come. Thus at the end of the day they had to payback along with a fine of Rs. 25/- on each share. This was known as replying the enemies abiding the rules.

The third one which I will always remember is that when all the money lenders were asking back for there money as there was some bad things being published in the news paper. News paper also reported that Reliance is going to close. So all wanted their money back. Knowing that he won’t be able to return that amount in such a short time. His friends advised him to stay out of market for some time and then re-enter it when the situation settles down. Knowing that his staying away will only create resentment among the money lenders. He decided to face the situation and took a large risk. He put a notice on the notice board saying that Reliance is returning money to all who want it back. So please come to my office and tell the denominations in which you want the money back. Three or four appeared and got their money back. Thus the belief came back and the rest didn’t ask for it. This maintained his image in the market and thus was a good reply to his peer enemies.

I am highly inspired by his life stories. And these will always help me doing things which I wish. Thus the mottos which I got from the book are :-

Every stone has a sculptor, all you need to do is just work hard and remove the extra portion in it.

Limitations are in our Mind, What you can think is what you can do.
